Digital documents now accessible nationwide — no paper needed
Residents across all seven emirates can now request free, verified digital copies of official government documents directly through their smartphones, using the UAE PASS platform. The move eliminates the need to carry physical paperwork for everyday transactions, from proving identity to presenting academic credentials or vehicle registration.
The service is available at no cost to every registered user, whether citizen or resident, and is supported by a unified national system that replaces older emirate-specific platforms like DubaiID.
What documents can you store digitally?
UAE PASS users can now request and store digital versions of the following official records:
• Emirates ID
• Passport (for UAE citizens)
• Driving licence
• Vehicle registration card (Mulkiya)
• Attested academic certificates
• People of determination card (Sanad)
• Digital trade licenses (added in late 2025)
The platform continues to expand its catalog of supported documents, with ongoing integration from federal and local government entities.
How to request your digital copy
Download the UAE PASS app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Log in using biometrics (facial recognition or fingerprint) or a secure PIN — registration requires your Emirates ID and a UAE mobile number.
Tap 'Documents' in the bottom menu bar, then select 'Request a document'.
Choose the document you need from the list — your Emirates ID details will auto-populate for verification.
Tap 'Confirm request' and wait for confirmation via in-app notification.
Once approved, open the document to view, save as PDF, or share securely. Remove it anytime from your digital vault.
The entire process takes minutes and requires no trips to government service centres.
Behind the scenes: a smarter, faster system
In September 2026, the digital infrastructure underpinning UAE PASS was upgraded to an Avalanche Layer 1 blockchain network, replacing older systems. This change provides stronger security, faster processing, and greater scalability — critical as the platform now supports over 15,000 services from more than 350 federal, local, and private institutions.
The upgrade also ensures that every digital document is tamper-proof and verifiable in real time — a key feature for banks, telecom providers, and government agencies using the system for customer onboarding and contract signing.
Legal validity and privacy protection
Digital signatures created through UAE PASS carry full legal weight under Federal Law No. 1 of 2006 on Electronic Commerce. This means signed contracts, applications, and official forms are legally binding, just like handwritten signatures.
All user data is protected under Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection. Private keys are stored securely using Secure Element and Trusted Execution Environment technologies on the user’s device — not on central servers.
End-to-end encryption, two-factor authentication, and a national public key infrastructure ensure that personal information remains private and cannot be accessed without explicit user consent.
