Etihad Airways and Etihad Rail have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the possibility of integrating air and rail travel across the UAE. The MoU, confirmed by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), outlines a joint commitment to study opportunities for seamless transfers between Zayed International Airport and Etihad Rail’s network. This includes examining the feasibility of coordinated ticketing, synchronized schedules, and potential shuttle connections. However, no concrete plans, timelines, or infrastructure projects have been approved or initiated.

The UAE has long prioritized integrated mobility solutions to reduce road congestion and support sustainability goals. Etihad Rail, which currently operates freight services and is preparing for passenger launches (expected by end of 2026), provides a growing backbone for inter-emirate travel.
