Dubai Police deploy AI-driven shift planning to cut response times by 40%

Dubai Police has launched a new artificial intelligence system that automatically matches officer skills with operational needs, reducing manual scheduling by 80% and cutting emergency response delays by approximately 40%. The system, rolled out across all Smart Police Stations in September 2026, uses predictive analytics to reallocate patrols based on historical incident data, upcoming public events, and real-time traffic patterns. This internal innovation is certified under the global ISO/IEC 42001:2023 standard for ethical AI governance.

AI now guides patrol distribution, not just analysis — field commanders receive live suggestions for repositioning resources before incidents occur. The technology also integrates with 36 operational robots handling administrative tasks, freeing personnel for frontline duties.

K9 units now equipped with AI-enabled wearable tech

Dubai Police’s K9 Security Inspection Department has upgraded its 78 detection dogs with smart harnesses featuring thermal sensors, GPS trackers, and HD cameras. These devices relay live data to command centers, allowing handlers to monitor canine stress levels, environmental conditions, and mission progress remotely.

In the first nine months of 2026, the K9 units logged 280 successful detection cases involving narcotics, explosives, and ballistic materials. Teams have been deployed on international missions to Libya and Turkey, and the unit is currently testing robotic canine prototypes for hazardous entry operations, reducing risk to both biological dogs and human officers.

School safety QR code now permanent across 280 institutions

Dubai Civil Defence has permanently extended the School Safety QR Code initiative across all 280 public and private schools in Dubai. Parents, staff, and emergency responders can now instantly access critical safety information — including evacuation routes, emergency contacts, and hazard alerts — by scanning the QR code posted at every school entrance. The system, initially piloted in 2025, has significantly improved coordination during drills and real emergencies, with 98% of schools reporting faster response times during simulated incidents. The initiative is now integrated with Dubai Police’s emergency alert network, ensuring real-time communication during critical situations.
